Windows preferable to Linux for Hotel Digital Interactive System.

Windows preferable to Linux for Hotel Digital Interactive System.

The general belief is that Linux is a “FREE” and “Reliable” operating system. But remember —

There is a place for Linux and there is a place for Windows

And what you see is what you get with Linux. If you need connectivity for

external hardware you will require a driver. Windows has the flexibility to cope with this but Linux probably not.

Nowadays Hotel guests travel with all sorts of gadgets requiring USB or wifi

connection as this is what we all use at home! You should have at least as much as at home if not more  “Home away from Home…Office away from Office” Today Windows deals with IPODS, USB, WIFI, Games Consoles, Cameras, VOIP  and so much more.

Tomorrow there will be new devices requiring connectivity.

Windows delivers all this as standard.

Sunday, March 28th, 2010

Q: What does LED stand for?

A: Light-emitting-diode lamp and when an electric current passes through the lamp LED then emit light.

Q: Are LED lamps longer lasting than traditional or tubes?

A: LEDs do offer a long life and are more high efficiency. They have on average a life expectancy of 5 years

Q:Are the initial purchase of LEDs higher than those of fluorescent lamps?

A: LEDs are not the cheapest lighting product on the market but in the long run they are cost effective and more efficient. You will see a return or payback usually within 14 months time if not earlier. For example one restaurant bar installation retrofitting with LEDs costing the client AEDS 13,000 which does seem a lot but they saw a return on their investment with in 11 months.

Q: Are LEDs only suitable for living rooms or restaurants areas, in doors and new builds really?

A: LEDs come in many styles and formats but they are not as yet suitable for every lighting need. The LED perfect for down lighters, spotlights, emergency lighting, floodlights, tunnel, car park, bathrooms exterior and interior and bulk head. They are ideal to fit in to new build but equally they can easily be swapped over when doing renovations and refits changing from traditional to LED which is more efficient.

Q: Are LED lights versatile?

A: Yes, LEDs come as a range of lighting beams, narrow, broad and also medium which is the most common allowing the right lighting to be selected for each specific area.

Q: I have seen LEDs lights for sale at the market at very cheap price, are these worth buying?

A: The old adage ‘ You get what you pay for’ is very true,  There are sub standard bulbs available and good quality LEDs are not cheap but it is worth paying for that more expensive and also go to a reputable supplier who can advise you accordingly to match your requirements. Just remember poor quality will not give you the expected 5 years  life expectancy of an LED Light.

Q: Is it difficult to install LEDs

A: No, it is a quick and simple process. We can give you an example of a hotel who replaces their  145 traditional bulbs with LED lights in one hour and  a few months later they were delighted to see that they had an energy cost saving of 26,000 aeds
